Hurry up and loose, we’ve got work to do

That is the text on all Skule Athletics shirts. Not a bad slogan, it’s quite encouraging and certainly makes me want to win, all the time! The statement’s arrogant, witty, and straight to the point.

On Wednesday night I went to ACE Network Art of Powerful Conversation and had a great time! Among many wonderful people, I met Stuart Knight who was the presenter for the night. Stuart gave a very inspirational speech, focusing on the rights and wrongs of conversations, but also just talked about fun things that surround us in the everyday life. Below is a quick and chaotically structured recap of the night.

“Why” is a question that we start asking from our childhood but then slowly forget about as we get sucked into all the societal pressures. I am generally really curios and I do always want to know why something happens, why something is true, and why I ought to do what other tell me to do. On a grand scale though, a lot of people have forgotten what it is like to wonder and instead of asking real, meaningful questions, people tend to collect statistic about each other’s lives. Stuart was keen to pick up on this topic; the speech was fun, it was entertaining, and it was memorable!

Folks in the room seemed to have shared the same believes, one of them was fast-tracking. Seriously, don’t you just love when conversations are to the point, without unnecessary dancing around? For example, if you are being fired, wouldn’t you rather just know that and move on with your life? What if somebody is breaking up with you? Wouldn’t you rather just know that too so you could get over it and move on to something bigger and better? Well, maybe you don’t, but I do!

Too often it seems that people try to mask their true thoughts and their feelings, trying not to offend anybody. I often get in trouble by telling people what’s on my mind, especially on the topics that are considered hash-hash. The truth is though, the faster you get all the unnecessary stuff out of the way, and the faster you get to the point, the more time you will have to enjoy the rest of your conversation/life. Don’t you think?

Anyways, those were some of the point that Stuart brought up in his discussion and I couldn’t have agreed more.
