Un Juego Absurdo
“Papa, a mi esta mujer me gusta, porque me ha se sufrire, esto me calienta!” or in other words the guy in this short film is saying that he likes the girl because she’s ignoring him. It’s absurd, but this seems to work! Things that come easy to us seem to be boring. Turns out, there might be an explanation behind this and it comes from economics.
It might be a long shot, but in the book “FREE: The future of a radical price” the author explains how it’s the natural human instinct to focus on scarcity and ignore abundance. “Abundance, from the evolutionary perspective, resolves itself, while scarcity needs to be fought over. Focusing on a risk that supplies are going to run out is one of our survival instincts” – Chris Anderson. In other words, when women behave as they are so unique that nobody nearly as good could be found in the entire universe, that triggers men to jump through hoops in hopes that the “resource” is his and no one else’s. Fortunately for us, and unfortunately for women, there are plenty of fish in the sea. Again, as described in the book, once the resource becomes so expensive that it’s nearly unaffordable, we quickly put more resources towards finding a cheaper replacement. Thoughts?
In other news, I had a somewhat surprise interview this morning. I should have expected it, but for some reason I didn’t. Fortunately, the folks interviewing were very nice and I think we both understood that the expectations for our meting were different. Unfortunately, I think the fact that they were so friendly got me to loose some concentration and I was a bit too casual and lacked the focus in what I should have delivered. You live and you learn?
